Včelince (1948–1973 Slovak "Včelínce" - until 1948 "Mehy"; Hungarian Méhi ) is a municipality in the south-center of Slovakia with 813 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), in the Okres Rimavská Sobota , a district of Banskobystrický kraj , and is counted as part of the Gemer landscape .

The municipality is located in the southeast of the Rimavská kotlina basin (part of the Juhoslovenská kotlina ) on the left bank of the Slaná . The center of the village is at an altitude of 168  m nm and is five and a half kilometers from Torna sowiea and 24 kilometers from Rimavská Sobota .

Neighboring municipalities are Tornaľa in the north, Lenka in the east, Kesovce in the southeast, Štrkovec and briefly Chanava in the south, Rumince in the west and Stránska in the northwest,

history

In today's municipal area there were important settlements in the Bronze Age, there are also outlines of an embankment of a barrow from the later Hallstatt period.

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1332 as Mehy and was then part of the estate of Gemer Castle , after which it was owned by the Méhy family and others. In 1427 25 porta are recorded in a tax register. In 1828 there were 87 houses and 562 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Between 1938 and 1944 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Včelince had 818 inhabitants, including 545 Magyars, 165 Slovaks, 95 Roma and two Czechs. Eleven residents made no statement. 568 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 92 residents to the Reformed Church, 15 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 13 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, two residents each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Mormons as well as the Czechoslovak Hussite Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 98 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 25 inhabitants was not determined.
