Baron Basset de Sapcote (also Baron Basset of Sapcote ) was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of England .

Awards

The title was first created during the Second Barons' War as Barony by writ for Ralph Basset from Sapcote in Leicestershire , when he was convened on December 24, 1264 by Writ of Summons to De Montfort's Parliament . Since the title arose in the rebellion against the king, this creation of the title is in part considered to be ineffective and his son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were never invited to parliament. Basset's great-great-grandson of the same name was first convened to the royal parliament on January 8, 1371 by Writ of Summons . At the latest this constituted the title legally effective. Since he had no sons, the title fell between his two daughters on his death on July 17, 1378 in Abeyance .
