Baron Hardinge of Penshurst
Baron Hardinge of Penshurst , of Penshurst in the County of Kent , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was awarded on July 21, 1910 to the then State Secretary in the Foreign Office and diplomat Sir Charles Hardinge . After the elevation to the nobility, he was sent to India as viceroy .
