Baron Killanin
Baron Killanin , of Galway in the County of Galway , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award, subordinate and other titles
The title was created on June 15, 1900 for the Irish lawyer and politician Michael Morris, Baron Morris . This had been Lord Chief Justice of Ireland and then Lord Justice and, based on the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876, had already been raised for life on December 5, 1889 as Baron Morris , of Spiddal in the County of Galway. In addition, he had already on September 14, 1885 the dignity of a Baronet , of Spiddal, which belongs to the Baronetage of the United Kingdom, was awarded. While the Barony Morris as a life peer naturally expired when the 1st Baron Killanin died, the Baronetcy is still a subordinate title of the respective Baron Killanin.
