Baron Moynihan , of Leeds in the County of York , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was created on March 19, 1929 for Sir Berkeley Moynihan, 1st Baronet surgeon . This had already been awarded the subordinate title Baronet , of Carr Manor, Meanwood in the West Riding of the County of York on March 9, 1922 .

After the death of his grandson, the 3rd Baron, in 1991, a legal dispute broke out between his two sons from different marriages, who mutually questioned their legitimacy. The litigation only ended in 1997 in favor of her uncle, a half-brother of the 3rd Baron, Colin Moynihan , who has held the title ever since.
