Baron Olivier

Baron Olivier was a British title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom . It was awarded once as a hereditary title ( Hereditary Peerage ) and once for life ( Life Peerage ).

Awards

On February 9, 1924, the hereditary title of Baron Olivier , of Ramsden in the County of Oxford, was bestowed on the ministerial official and politician Sydney Haldane Olivier by Letters patent . Since he left four daughters but no male descendants when he died, the title expired on his death in 1943.

On March 5, 1971, actor and director Sir Laurence Olivier was awarded the title Baron Olivier , of Brighton in the County of Sussex , for life . He was the son of a brother of the baron's first bestowal. The title naturally expired on his death in 1989.
