Baron Robartes

Baron Robartes was a hereditary British title of nobility conferred once in the Peerage of England and once in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Lanhydrock House near Bodmin in Cornwall was one of the family residences of the barons of both awards .

Awards, subordinate and other titles

For the first time on January 26, 1625 the title of Baron Robartes , of Truro in the County of Cornwall , was bestowed in the Peerage of England to Sir Richard Robartes, 1st Baronet . On July 3, 1621 he had already been awarded the subordinate title Baronet , of Truro in the County of Cornwall, in the Baronetage of England . His son, the 2nd Baron, was also elevated to Earl of Radnor and Viscount Bodmin on July 23, 1679 in the Peerage of England . All these titles expired on the death of his grandson, the 4th Earl, on July 15, 1757.

In the second award, the title Baron Robartes , of Lanhydrock and of Truro in the County of Cornwall, was created on December 13, 1869 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom for the House of Commons Thomas James Agar-Robartes . He was broadly related to the Barons of the First Grant. His son, the 2nd Baron, inherited the titles of 6th Viscount Clifden , 6th Baron Clifden and 6th Baron Mendip from his second cousin in 1889 . All four titles expired on the death of his younger son, the 8th Viscount, on December 22, 1974.
