Baron Sandhurst

Baron Sandhurst , of Sandhurst in the County of Berks , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award and history of the title

The title was created on March 28, 1871 for the Commander in Chief in India Sir William Mansfield . His eldest son, the 2nd Baron, was also promoted to Viscount Sandhurst , of Sandhurst in the County of Berks, on January 23, 1917 . When the Viscount died childless on November 2, 1921, the Viscountcy became extinct, while the barony fell to his younger brother as the 3rd baron. Today's title holder has been his great-grandson Guy Mansfield as the 6th Baron since 2002 .

The heir ( Heir Apparent ) is the only son of the current title holder, Hon. Edward Mansfield (* 1982).
