The AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Championship is a wrestling title of the Japanese promotion All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW). As usual in wrestling, the award of this title follows a previously worked out storyline . As the name suggests, the title is fought in the light heavyweight division , which in wrestling means that the fighters are no heavier than 220 lb. (or 100 kg) may be. He replaced the NWA International Junior Heavyweight Championship . The belt also had the same appearance, only the "International" was replaced by "World" on the new belt. On August 27, 2017, the title received a new design.
The title was introduced on July 31, 1986. The first champion was Hiro Saito , who was able to defeat his opponent Brad Armstrong in a tournament final. A total of 31 wrestlers were named champions.
