Baron Slane was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland , which was named after the place Slane in County Meath , Ireland .

Award

The title was given by King Edward III around 1370 . created for Sir Simon Flemming .

Since the 13th Baron was Catholic Archbishop of Dublin , he obtained from King Charles I that the title was transferred to his younger brother William in 1629.

The 17th Baron sided with the House of Stuart during the Glorious Revolution in the War of the Two Kings and was ostracized by Parliament on April 16, 1691 for high treason and the title was revoked.
