Earl Waldegrave
Earl Waldegrave is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was created on September 13, 1729 for James Waldegrave, 2nd Baron Waldegrave . Together with the Earldom he was given the subordinate title Viscount Chewton . He led since 1689 the inherited titles of 2nd Baron Waldegrave , of Chewton in the County of Somerset and 5th Baronet , of Hever Castle in the County of Kent . The barony was bestowed on his father on January 20, 1686 in the Peerage of England. The Baronetcy was created on August 1, 1643 in the Baronetage of England for his great-great-grandfather.
The Earls' family home is Chewton House in Chewton Mendip in Somerset.
