Baron Wrottesley

Baron Wrottesley , of Wrottesley in the County of Stafford , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was bestowed on April 20, 1807 by Letters Patent to Major-General and House of Commons Sir John Wrottesley, 9th Baronet . He had already inherited from his father in 1787 the title of Baronet , of Wrottesley in the County of Stafford, which had been given to his ancestor Walter Wrottesley (1606-1659) on August 30, 1642 in the Baronetage of England.

Today's title holder has been his descendant since 1977, the skeleton athlete Clifton Wrottesley , as the 6th Baron.

The family seat of the barons was until 1963 Wrottesley Hall near Tettenhall in Staffordshire.
