Bartholomew Frank
Bartholomäus Frank (* around 1460; † 1522 in Bern ) was a German cantor at the Bern Minster and composer.
Life
Bartholomäus Frank came from the Diocese of Würzburg , the year of his birth is not known. In 1481 he was appointed as cantor at the Bern Minster and remained there after the establishment of the canon monastery from 1484/5, since 1500 as canon. Around 1490 he wrote and composed a Latin and German rhyming poem as a New Year's greeting, which he dedicated to the Bishop of Sitten, Jost von Silenen ; the original, a parchment sheet measuring 77 × 61 cm, with text and musical notes by the hand of the cantor; The master of the breviary of Jost von Silenen added a painted coat of arms of the honored .
