Bartholomew of Cataneis
Bartholomäus Venturini von Theoldis and Swere a Cataneis († January 22, 1562 ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman . From 1550 to 1562 he was the 35th provost of Herzogenburg Abbey .
Life
Bartholomäus von Cataneis came from a noble family from the Italian Bergamo . On September 19, 1534, Mathias Ugonius von Bresse, Bishop of Famagouste and Vicar General of the Bishop of Brescia, gave him the tonsure and minor orders in the Cathedral of Brescia. As a cleric of the Diocese of Bergamo, he was appointed canon and cantor of the bishopric near St. Stephan in Vienna (today: St. Stephen's Cathedral ) on August 28, 1534 and was appointed count palatine by the papal protonotary and nuncio in Vienna, but shortly thereafter received a dispensation. On December 4, 1534, he was appointed canon of the cathedral church in Vienna. Ordination took place on February 20, 1535. Shortly afterwards, on April 13, 1535, he was appointed pastor of Freistadt ob der Enns . On October 7, 1539, Bartholomew of Cataneis was appointed papal protonotarius and court chaplain (Comes palatinus sacri palatii apostolici).
On May 6, 1550, Bartholomew of Cataneis was appointed provost of the Herzogenburg Abbey of the Augustinian Canons . In 1556, Ferdinand I was appointed superintendent or administrator of the vacant Göttweig Abbey .
