Bartolomeo di Breganze (* around 1200 , † 1270 ) was Bishop of Vicenza and founder of the order of the Frati Gaudenti .

He came from the family of the Counts of Breganze. He studied in Padua and then joined St. Dominic , the founder of the Dominican Order. He preached in Lombardy and Romagna and founded the brotherhood of the Frati gaudenti .

After he had been ordained bishop in 1252 and was appointed titular bishop of an extinct bishopric in Cyprus, he was appointed bishop of Vicenza by Pope Alexander IV in 1255 . He came into conflict with Ezzelino from Romano and had to go into exile. The Pope then used him as a legate for England and France.

Through him a holy thorn came to Vicenza as a gift from Louis the Saint in 1260 . From 1261 the church of Santa Corona in Vicenza was built for this relic of Christ's crown of thorns .
