Baselios Thomas I. ( Malayalam : ആബൂൻ മോർ ബസേലിയോസ് തോമസ് പ്രഥമൻ കാതോലിക്ക ബാവ, * July 22, 1929 in Vadayambadi , Puthenkuriz , Kerala ) is the incumbent “ Catholicos of India” and the third “ Maphrian ” of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church within the Syrian language Orthodox Church of Antioch .

At his episcopal ordination as Metropolitan of Angamaly on February 24, 1974 in Damascus, he took the official name Mor Dionysius. On July 22nd, 2002 the Synod of the Syrian Orthodox Church confirmed his election as "Catholicos of India". When he was ordained on July 26, 2002 in the St. Ephrem Monastery of Ma'arat Sayyidnaya near Damascus by Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I. Iwas , he was given the official name of Baselios Thomas I. On July 31, 2002, he took office in India. He resides in the Mor Ignatius Seminary in Kothamangalam , Kerala .
