The Basellandschaftliche Pensionskasse (BLPK), based in Liestal, is an independent Swiss pension fund . It insures the staff of the canton of Basel-Landschaft , the municipalities of the canton of Basel-Landschaft, the Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank as well as schools, hospitals, retirement homes and other affiliated employers under the 2nd pillar .

The Basellandschaftliche Pensionskasse was founded in 1921 and is a public corporation with its own legal personality . At the end of 2017, more than 200 employers with around 25,000 actively insured persons and around 10,000 pensioners were affiliated. The investments amounted to around 9.0 billion Swiss francs.

Legal bases

The legal basis is formed by the Federal Act on Occupational Old-Age, Survivors 'and Disability Pension Plans (BVG) , the Federal Act on Freedom of Movement in Occupational Old-Age, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans (Vested Benefits Act, FZG) and the associated ordinances. The legal basis also includes the decree on occupational benefits by the Basellandschaftliche Pensionskasse and the regulations of the BLPK.

The highest management body of the Basellandschaftliche Pensionskasse is the Board of Directors. This consists of twelve members, half of whom are elected by the 80-person assembly of insured persons and half by the five-person government council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft, each for four years. The day-to-day operations are managed by the three-person management.
