Basil Somerset Long

Basil Somerset Long ( May 1, 1881 - June 5, 1937 ) was a British art historian .

Basil Somerset Long was the son of the Reverend EE Long. He attended Bishop's Stortford College and then studied at the University College of Wales and Heidelberg University . After teaching at private schools from 1901 to 1905, he became an employee of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 1906 . At the museum he became the head (keeper) of the Department of Paintings. His research areas were mainly miniature painting and early English watercolors .
