The Don Bosco Basilica is a Catholic church in the Calidonia district of Panama City , the capital of the country of the same name and seat of the archbishopric of the same name , it bears the title of a minor basilica .

The church is dedicated to St. John Bosco , who is also the patron saint of Panama City. The church was elevated to a minor basilica on October 19, 1988 by Pope John Paul II . In 2010, the shrine with the relics of the 19th century Italian saint was taken on a procession through the city before leaving Panama. An urn with relics of the patron saint was sent to Panama in 2016 and has been kept in a newly built chapel of the basilica since May 6, 2017.

The hall building with a flat coffered ceiling is characterized by the Italian architectural style. On the plan of a Latin cross , both the choir and the two side aisles are closed with altars in round apses . The choir has a vault with a fresco depicting Christ and stained glass windows . The bell tower is on the side. Every year on January 31, a procession with around 25,000 participants through the streets of the city takes place from the basilica.
