Maria Basina Kloos FBMVA (* February 1940 in Gams ob Frauenthal (today: Bad Gams , West Styria)) is a German nun. She was Superior General of the Waldbreitbach Franciscan Sisters in two terms of office .

Life

Born as Dorothea Kloos and raised in Idar-Oberstein , she entered the Third Order of the Waldbreitbach Franciscan Sisters in 1957 and was given the name Basina. She was a nurse, teacher and clinic director before moving up to the leadership of the order. From 1976 to 1988 she was Vicar General , from 1988 to 1994 and from 2000 to 2012 she was Superior General of her order. Basina Kloos is currently (2014) together with sister Marianne Meyer and Günter Merschbächer managing director of Marienhaus Gesundheits- und Sozialholding GmbH, one of the largest Christian supporters of social institutions in Germany.

From 1995 to 1998 she was general secretary of the Association of Superiors of Germany (VOD).

According to the text of the award document, Sr. Basina received the Peter Wust Prize 2009 for her work out of Christian responsibility in the challenges of social affairs in modern society, which she held in leading functions of leadership and responsibility in the religious community and in St. Elisabeth GmbH / Marienhaus GmbH, Waldbreitbach. Their commitment to a social and just society is combined with the wish that social institutions will continue to be run according to Christian standards in the future .
