Basic cream DAC
The DAC base cream is an important stock preparation of the German Medicines Codex (DAC).
composition
100 g base cream DAC contain:
- 4.0 g glycerol monostearate 60
- 6.0 g of cetyl alcohol
- 7.5 g medium-chain triglycerides (neutral oil, Miglyol 812)
- 25.5 g white petroleum jelly
- 7.0 g of macrogol-20 glycerol monostearate
- 10.0 g propylene glycol
- 40.0 g of purified water
properties
The DAC base cream is available as an oil-in-water emulsion (O / W emulsion). It is an amphiphilic cream that can absorb large amounts of lipophilic substances or hydrophilic substances . The incorporation of lipophilic substances results in phase inversion after the O / W emulsifier (macrogol 1000 glycerol monostearate) has reached its capacity limit , with the lipophilic phase taking over the function of the dispersant and the W / O emulsifiers (glycerol monostearate 60, cetyl alcohol) Film education dominate.
The emulsifiers are non-ionic, which ensures good compatibility. If the skin is damaged, the DAC base cream can cause a slight stinging sensation due to its preservation with propylene glycol.
Areas of application
Basiscreme DAC is a frequently used basis for greasy creams in formulations produced in pharmacies . It is used as a moisturizing cream for psoriasis or acne diseases.
durability
Basiscreme DAC can be stored for up to 3 years in tightly closed containers without further preservation if stored away from light. Due to the content of 20% propylene glycol (based on the hydrophilic phase), Base Cream DAC is not microbiologically susceptible.
