Bassarona dunya is a butterfly ( butterflies )found in Asiafrom the noble butterfly family(Nymphalidae).

The wingspan of the moth is 75 to 90 millimeters. The upper sides of the wings show a nut-brown basic color in males and females. A row of white, pearl necklace-like spots runs over the disk region of both pairs of wings. The spots on the upper side of the wing are only indistinctly different from the cream-colored undersides of the wings. In English usage, the species is referred to as The Great Marquis (The Great Margrave), sometimes also as a Pearl's Necklace (pearl necklace).

Occurrence, subspecies and habitat

The range of the species extends from Burma and Thailand to Malaysia . Five subspecies are currently listed in the individual occurrence areas . Bassarona dunya prefers to colonize tropical and subtropical deciduous forests.

Way of life

The moths can be found all year round. They like to suckle on overripe fruits. Details on the species' way of life have yet to be researched.
