Bataille royale

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bataille Royale or Casino War is a mainly in French and American casinos operated gambling .

The origin of this casino game can be found in a widespread card game for children, which in the German-speaking world is described as life and death or war and peace , in Austria as Kriegeln , in Switzerland as Burechrieg (peasant war) and in France as Bataille (German battle) is known. In Great Britain the game is called Battle , in the USA War (Eng. War).

Child's play

The game for two

Life and Death is played by two players using a pack of 32 or 52 cards. The colors play no role in life and death , the ace is considered the highest card, the seven or two as the lowest. All cards are dealt, each player receives a packet of 16 or 26 cards, which he puts face down on the table in front of him.

Both players reveal the top card of their pack. The player who has the card with the higher value takes the two cards face up and places them face down on the table in front of him. Both players reveal the same values, e.g. B. two jacks, the two cards are placed face up in the middle. Then each player places another card face down on it and finally one card. The player who now reveals the higher card receives both stacks - i. H. all six cards. If two of the same cards are turned up again, this procedure is repeated, which means that ten cards are dealt with the next time. Then the game continues as usual until each player has used up his stack.

Then each player shuffles the cards lying face down in front of him, puts them in front of him in a stack, and the game continues. The winner is the player who can take all cards from his opponent.

The game for three or more people

The above rule can be generalized in a simple way for the game with three or four people: each participant reveals a card and the player with the highest card wins the face up cards. If two or more players reveal cards with the same highest value, these players each place one more face-down card on the pile and then one face-up card. Whoever turns over the highest card wins all cards placed in the middle.

Trump card

Another variation of this game is Supertrumpf or Mega trump that with quartet played cards (see Supertrumpf ).

The casino game

The rules

Six packets of 52 French playing cards , i.e. 312 cards, are used in the casino game . The player makes a bet according to the specified limits, then he receives a card and so does the croupier .

If the player's card is higher than that of the croupier, the player wins even money , i.e. H. in a ratio of 1: 1. If the player's card is lower than that of the croupier, the casino wins. If the cards of the player and the croupier are of equal value, a bataille or war occurs .

  • The player can now either half the bet lost give ( Retirer or Surrender ) or
  • Double your stake. Then - as in the children's game - one card is covered and another card is placed face up.
    • If the player's card is higher than or equal to the croupier's card, the player receives a profit equal to his original stake.
    • If the croupier's card is higher, the casino will collect the full stake.

Side bet on Tie

As a player, you can also bet that the croupier and the player will draw cards of equal value ( tie ); If this occurs, the tie bet is paid at odds of 10: 1.

Probability of winning and bank advantage

The probability of winning is slightly greater than ½ for the player, the bank advantage comes from the fact that a player has to increase his stake whenever there is a bataille and thus risks losing two stakes, but if he wins, he only has the single one Stake is paid out. Therefore, the bank advantage is about 2.7% when the player takes the decision by a Bataille or War causes, in the case of a task ( Retirer or surrender ) even 3.7% - d. H. it is cheaper to opt for the bataille .

If - as in Casino Monte Carlo - you play with only two instead of six packages, the bank advantage is only 2.5%. The tie bet is very disadvantageous for the player, the bank advantage is 18.6% when playing with six packages. While the actual game is cheaper for the player with only two packages (bank advantage 2.5% instead of 2.7%), the bet on tie is even worse with only two packages: the bank advantage is then even 25.2%.
