Batallón de Infantería Paracaidista Nº14
The Batallón de Infantería Paracaidista Nº14 , short Bn de I Parac Nº14 or BNI Nº14 , is a military unit in Uruguay that combines both paratroopers and special forces. The battalion is subordinate to the army .
The unit was founded on November 30, 1971 as a pure paratrooper association . After the first grades were initially abroad, such as As in Chile were trained, was founded on 17 February 1976, the Centro de Instrucción de Paracaidistas del Ejército (CIPE) as a separate paratrooper school. In 1978 the Compañía Especial Antiterrorista "Escorpion" (CEAT) was founded as an anti-terrorist unit. On February 26, 1999, the Compañía de Comandos “General Artigas” or Ca.de COMANDOS “Gral.Artigas” for short was founded. The Compañía de Comandos “General Artigas” was merged in 2007 with the Compañía Especial Antiterrorista “Escorpion”. In 2000, the Centro de Instrucción de Fuerzas Especiales del Ejercito (CIFF.EE.E.) was founded to train special units themselves.
