Fatoumatta Njai

Fatoumatta Njie-Batchilly , also known as Touma Njai (* 20th century in Banjul ) is a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

Njai is the niece of Lady Chilel Jawara and the mother of three children. She is married to the wealthy businessman Housainou M. Njie.

She attended some of the most prestigious schools in the country and then studied Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent from 1992 to 1995, where she earned her Bachelor's degree. After that she worked in the public service for several years. She obtained her Master in Business Administration from 2012 to 2015 at the Edinburgh Business School .

In February 2017, she officially announced that she would go into politics.

In the 2017 parliamentary elections , Njai stood as a candidate for the People's Progressive Party (PPP) in the Banjul South constituency and was able to successfully win the constituency, even with an absolute majority of four opposing candidates.
