The Edinburgh Business School (EBS) is management Graduate School of Heriot-Watt University (HWU) in Edinburgh , Scotland . The university is named after the steam engine pioneer James Watt and the businessman George Heriot and was founded in 1821 as a technical school. Founder of the 1997 established business school is Professor Keith G. Lumsden, who previously researched and taught for many years at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University in the United States .

Offered MBA programs in full-time, part-time and distance learning form. With over 9,000 students from over 120 countries, EBS is one of the largest business schools. In addition to the classic MBA program, there is also an advanced DBA ( Doctor of Business Administration ) program, in which around 120 students were enrolled in 2004.

Heriot-Watt University is accredited by the British Royal Charter (1966) and recognized by the Department of Education, the US Department of Education.

In 2010, the Edinburgh Business School's distance learning MBA was ranked first in the Financial Times ' online MBA category.
