George Heriot

George Heriot (* 1563 ; † February 12, 1624 ) was a goldsmith in Edinburgh , Scotland . He first became the goldsmith of Anna of Denmark , the wife of King James VI. appointed by Scotland, then in 1601 as the king's goldsmith himself. When James received the English crown (then called James I), Heriot followed him to London as a goldsmith, jeweler and banker . Heriot donated, among other things, a hospital in Edinburgh.

According to him, and James Watt is Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh named.
