The Bath Festival of Blues was a music festival held on Saturday June 28, 1969 at the Recreation Ground in Bath . Well-known British blues and blues-rock bands have performed, including Fleetwood Mac , John Mayall 's Bluesbreakers, Ten Years After , Led Zeppelin , The Nice , Chicken Shack , Jon Hiseman 's Colosseum , Mick Abrahams ' Blodwyn Pig and Principal Edwards Magic Theater .

The festival was organized by Fred and Wendy Bannister at the request of the Bath Festival Society, who had previously held club concerts in London , Oxford and Bath. The number of visitors is estimated at 12,000, other reports speak of 30,000. Admission for the whole day was 18 shillings and sixpences, for the evening alone 14 shillings and sixpences.

The demonstrations took place on two stages. When The Nice performed, which had four bagpipers with them, the stage floor broke under the strain. During Led Zeppelin's subsequent appearance on the other stage, the damage was repaired.

In 1970 the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music took place as its successor .
