Blodwyn Pig was a British rock group founded by Mick Abrahams (born April 7, 1943 in Luton, Bedfordshire) after he left Jethro Tull in 1968.

Career

Abrahams had founded Jethro Tull, but Ian Anderson gradually took over and the group became too commercial for Abrahams. That's why he decided to start his own project. Blodwyn Pig consisted of Abrahams (guitar, vocals), Jack Lancaster (saxophone, flute, violin), Andy Pyle (bass) and Ron Berg (drums). Her musical style included blues, rock and jazz.

The band recorded two LPs that reached the UK top ten. The first was called Ahead Rings Out and is considered the band's best album. Blodwyn Pig became famous for appearing at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1969, along with Led Zeppelin , The Who , Procol Harum , BB King , Miles Davis , Janis Joplin , Pink Floyd and Joe Cocker . They toured the USA successfully twice. On May 25, 1970, they appeared in the German television program Beat Club in Bremen, which was then broadcast on May 30. They also made many television appearances in their native UK and the USA.

They separated in 1970, sporadically met briefly and have been active again since 1988, each with a different line-up. Andy Pyle of the regular cast returned temporarily from Gary Moore and Wishbone Ash . Today the band consists of Mick Abrahams, Mike Summerland (bass), Dave Lennox (keyboard) and Graham Walker (drums). They were always supported by Ian Anderson , after all, it was not enmity, but artistic differences that had led to Jethro Tull's separation.
