Farmer catch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bauernfangen is an old trick card game for 4 to 5 players that used to be very popular, especially in the Upper Austrian Hausruckviertel region . It is played with a French or double-German card sheet with the colors hearts, diamonds (bells), spades and clubs (acorns). There are five playing cards per color. These are in descending order: ace , king , pawn, under , tens. There is no trump suit .

Set of rules

There are 4 rounds back and forth in pawn catching. In the first half of the season there is no pawn in the lurch , in the second half of the season as many pawns as possible have to be "stabbed".

At the start of the game, the dealer is drawn by lot. This player distributes the playing cards starting from the left in a clockwise direction so that each player has the same number in hand. The player to the left of the dealer plays the first card. If possible, the color used must be used. There is no need to try to win the trick, however. If a player does not have the corresponding card in hand, he can discard any card. The player with the highest led card takes the trick and leads the next card. The game round ends when all pawns have been won.

Rating

Only the pawns won in each game round count for the scoring.

In the first half of the season the stakes are put together in the middle of the table, in the second half of the season the corresponding sums are taken from the middle of the table. The farmers are rated as follows:

  • Heart pawn: 0.40 euros
  • Diamonds or bells pawns: 0.30 euros
  • Pawn of spades: 0.20 euros
  • Cross or acorn farmer: 0.10 euros

the end of the game

The winner is the player who has won the most money after 8 game rounds.

Depending on the agreement, the 4 rounds can be repeated as often as you like.
