Bauscher is a global manufacturer of hotel china from Weiden in the Upper Palatinate . With around 500 employees, the company is one of the most important employers in the northern Upper Palatinate and, according to its own information, is the largest porcelain manufacturer in Europe.
history
The Bauscher company was founded in 1881 by the August and Conrad Bauscher brothers. Bauscher was already specialized in hotel china back then, which was very unusual and unique for the time. So it came about that in 1890 all ships of North German Lloyd were outfitted with porcelain from Bauscher. The Bauscher brothers began to develop international markets early on. A branch was opened in New York as early as 1895, followed by others in London and Lucerne in 1900. The company, initially operated as a sole proprietorship, then as an oHG, was converted in 1907 into a GmbH and in 1911 into an AG. A porcelain art factory was also founded in 1911 and the production of telegraph bells and insulators was started by 1920. The company founders die in 1910 (Conrad) or 1917 (August), the majority of the AG was ultimately held by the Strupp Group. After the Strupp Group collapsed, Bauscher became part of Lorenz Hutschenreuther AG in 1927 (Hutschenreuther AG from 1969), which reorganized itself in 1998 as BHS Tabletop ; the "Hutschenreuther" brand was sold (today to Rosenthal ).
Products
The company produces porcelain that is adapted to the special needs (durability, functionality, stability) of the catering industry or of hospitals and similar facilities. Bauscher's range of shapes includes white porcelain as well as decorated series. Gastronomy glasses have also been part of the range since 1987. Up to 120,000 pieces of porcelain are produced in Weiden every day. The traditional company produces for the German market, but also exports its porcelain to over 120 countries. Bauscher offers its porcelain in over 18 forms, the oldest form still produced today ("Stuttgart") has been on offer since 1911.
The "System B 1100", designed by Heinz H. Engler in 1962 , is the most successful tableware series in the world.
