Building stone from Soma

The monolith of Soma is about 2.0 meters from the road 509 located next to a modern church, northwest of Soma and Sandnes in Stavanger in Fylke Rogaland in Norway .
A metal fence stands between the road and the Iron Age building stone . The menhir was once removed from its location and placed in the foundation of the old church. When the old church was demolished and the new one built, the stone was returned to its original location in 1928.
The stone is about 2.5 meters high, 60 cm at the base and 40 cm wide and 20 cm thick at the top.
