Construction surcharge is a term from the collective wage agreements for the construction industry . It is a wage component for commercial workers in the construction industry. The construction aggregate is currently valid control by 5.9% of the hourly wage rate and, for each worthwhile payer hour, but not for power reward more hours (plus hours, excess hours in the piece rate ). The construction allowance is granted to compensate for the special burdens to which the employee is exposed, in particular due to the constant change of the construction site (2.5%) and the dependence on the weather outside the statutory bad weather period (2.9%); it also serves in the amount of 0.5% to compensate for wage losses that arise during the statutory bad weather period.

For example, since June 1, 2012 in the western federal states the standard hourly wage for a journeyman bricklayer from the 2nd year of activity (specialist worker, wage group 4) has been € 16.12. Added to this is the construction surcharge of € 0.95, so that the total hourly wage is € 17.07. A helper (worker, wage group 1) earns minimum wage 1 in the old federal states, which has been € 10.43 since January 1, 2012. There is also the construction surcharge of € 0.62, so that the total hourly wage amounts to € 11.05.

Employees who, during the relevant payroll accounting period, are not mainly employed on construction sites, but stationary, in particular in building yards and workshops including production facilities for prefabricated parts, or as drivers of building yards and transport services, are not entitled to the construction allowance. This restriction only applies to employees in wage groups 3 - 6, whereas employees in wage groups 1 and 2 are entitled to the construction allowance without restriction.
