Gustav Neuring
Gustav Neuring (born September 14, 1879 in Harburg , † April 12, 1919 in Dresden ) was a German politician.
Life
Neuring belonged to the SPD and was a union member for 15 years. After the November Revolution of 1918 he was first chairman of the workers 'and soldiers' council , then people's representative and finally minister for military affairs . He was tasked with organizing a people's army. In March 1919, in collaboration with the Association of Active NCOs in the old army, he set up the “ Regiment Order”, which was used in Pirna to forcefully dissolve the workers 'and soldiers' councils.
After war invalids and wounded in the Dresden hospitals heard that their pensions were to be cut, they threw him from the bridge in front of his ministry into the Elbe on April 12 and shot him when he was about to swim ashore. A day later the state of siege was declared. A fortnight after the lynching, Bruno Kirchhof Neuring succeeded him.
Neuring's grave is on the Tolkewitz urn grove in Dresden.
