Albrecht Ernst Stellanus von Holtzendorff
Albrecht Ernst Stellanus Graf von Holtzendorff (born January 16, 1792 in Bärenstein , † February 24, 1882 in Dresden ) was a Saxon infantry general and minister of war .
Life
Albrecht was the eldest son of the Elector Saxon Chamberlain Gottlieb Graf von Holtzendorff (1764-1806) and his wife Ernestine Charlotte, born Freiin von Seckendorff (1765-1807). On August 21, 1817 he married Mathilde von Oppell (1794–1861) in Kunnersdorf , with whom he had their son Bernhard (1823–1905).
Around 1843 he was a major in command of the 2nd Rifle Battalion in Leipzig . In 1848 Holtzendorff was made an honorary citizen of the city of Leipzig. From March 16, 1848 to November 24, 1849 he was Saxon Minister of War.
Albrecht Graf von Holtzendorff was a Knight of the Military St. Henry's Order and the French Legion of Honor .
