Bavo Defurne

Bavo Defurne (* 1971 in Ghent ) is a Belgian film director .

Career

His first short film Atlantis was made in 1990. This was followed by some short films such as Rohypnol , Trailer and Ludo Drome in 1992/93 and Particularly Now in Spring in 1996 (including Saint , as part of the Rainbow Stories compilation ), Matross in 1998 and in 2000 Kampvuur . Four short films (including a campfire ) were released together on DVD under the overall title Campfire .

In 1995 Ludo Drome won the “Highlight” audience award in Arnhem . Saint - a film about the last minutes of Saint Sebastian - received a special mention from the jury at the Hamburg Short Film Festival in 1996 , and Lagerfeuer / Campfire received the Four Short Film Prize at the gay and lesbian film festival in London in 2000, as well as a special mention from the Turin gay lesbian jury in 2000 Film festivals as well as the local audience award. For his first feature film Noordzee, Texas , Defurne received the 2011 Montreal International Film Festival award .
