The Edward Bay GmbH was a German manufacturer of ceramic products. The company, founded in 1933 by Eduard Bay (1909–1978) in Ransbach in the Westerwald , produced decorative and utility ceramics. First in terracotta , it was switched to glaze ceramics in 1936. Bay-Keramik is known for her designs, for which Josef Koch was responsible in the 1950s and later the German designer Bodo Mans (1935–2001). Mans worked as a freelancer from 1960, and from 1962 as a permanent employee.

The Römertopf was invented in 1966 by Franz Peter Münch , Eduard Bay's son-in-law, and presented for the first time in 1967 at the Hanover Fair . The trademark rights were sold to Römertopf Keramik GmbH in 1997. In total, over 25 million Roman pots have been sold to date.

Production stopped in 1998.
