Karl Edelmann

Karl Edelmann (born May 22, 1962 in Tegernsee ) is a German musician, composer and arranger .

Life

Karl Edelmann was born in 1962 as the son of Karl Edelmann senior. (1920–2000) born. He grew up in Wildbad Kreuth and was shaped there by the folk music activities of his father, who was a music school teacher.

He studied clarinet and double bass at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and graduated with the double bass orchestra entrance exam. After visiting some master classes and temporary jobs in several orchestras he was for a few years manager in the folk music department of the Bavarian Radio .

After his classical training, Karl Edelmann soon turned to traditional Bavarian wind and folk music, composing and arranging in this area. He received commissions for compositions from the Munich Volkstheater , the Munich Advent Singing in the Prinzregententheater and the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra Bad Brückenau . He was also a lecturer at the Mozarteum in Salzburg on topics such as “ composition technique and performance practice of folk music”. In 2000 he became a member of the jury of the Alpine Folk Music Competition .

In 1993 he founded the music publisher Karl Edelmann, which has been based in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria since 2010 . In addition, Karl Edelmann has been organizing folk music seminars since 1998. After the beginning in Weilheim and a transition year in Bernried am Starnberger See , the seminars have been held in Holzhausen am Ammersee since 2000 .

In 2006 Karl Edelmann moved from Haunshofen to Polling . He has a son with his wife Katharina.

Ensembles

In 1987, Karl Edelmann founded his eleven-member "Old Bavarian Brass Music". It has an instrumentation as it existed in many villages in Old Bavaria around 1900 : Eb clarinet , two Bb clarinets , two trumpets , tenor horn , baritone , tuba , trombone , bass trumpet , Eb trumpet. The repertoire mainly includes Bavarian waltzes , Landler , Bavarian polka , Scottish , mazurka and double .

Other smaller formations around Karl Edelmann are the "Altbairischen Musikanten" and the "Maschanzker", the "Spielmusik", the "Saitenmusik", the "Weilheimer Holzbläsertrio" and the "Salonorchester".
