The Bavarian Mycological Society (BMG e.V.) is a non-profit association for fungal science. The company is based in Pegnitz . It includes natural persons as well as regional working groups and associations. The organs of the organization are the general assembly, the presidium and the association board.

history

The Bavarian Mycological Society was founded on September 27, 2008 during the 2nd Bavarian Mycological Conference in Pegnitz. Around 40 participants were present at the founding meeting in the old town hall of Pegnitz.

tasks and goals

The association promotes mushroom science in Bavaria. To this end, the BMG eV supports the closer networking of Bavarian fungal associations and mycological working groups. The BMG e. V. organizes the Bavarian Mycological Conference every year at different locations, a multi-day, mushroom-related event with excursions , lectures, public mushroom exhibitions and training for mushroom experts DGfM and mushroom advisors. The BMG e. V. is actively engaged in the poisoning prevention and therefore forms mushroom consultant BMG and mushroom consultants BMG from. In addition, BMG e. V. Fungal experts from the BMG , who are among other things diagnostically active in acute cases of poisoning. The company also supports research into local mushrooms , their ecology and their extensive mapping . It is committed to the preparation of scientific findings from fungal science for the public and, together with the Association for Mushroom Science Munich eV, publishes the journal Mycologia Bavarica. The company is also active in several nature conservation projects.

Networking and cooperation

The Bavarian Mycological Society is a member of the German Society for Mycology  (DGfM), which trains mushroom experts nationwide. It promotes the cross-border exchange of information through mutual membership with the Austrian Mycological Society (ÖMG). Since it was founded, the company has worked closely with the Bavarian Forest National Park Administration - the Bavarian Mycological Conferences in 2007 and 2009 were held in the national park. The BMG e. V. is also involved in the Bavarian Forest National Park working group for more nature-friendly bark beetle control measures in the extension area of ​​the national park. In addition, she fights in the Friends of the Steigerwald National Park for the designation of a corresponding protected area.
