Bavarian Jazz Prize
The Bavarian Jazz Prize honors personalities from civil society who are vigorously committed to the issues of jazz in Bavaria in politics, business or society and who ultimately shape the further development of the next generation.
The Bavarian Jazz Institute , the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Jazz in Bayern e. V. and the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Harald Rüschenbaum donated the award in 2003.
The prize, a specially designed sculpture, is awarded at concerts. So far received it:
- 2003: Dirk Hewig (ministerial official)
- 2005: Joe Kienemann
- 2006: Gustav Adolf Rabus (Director, Bavarian Music Academy Marktoberdorf)
- 2007: Christiane Böhnke-Geisse (program manager at the Unterfahrt jazz club in Munich)
