The bazaar building is on the right side of the Salzach in the Schwarzstrasse of Salzburg . Today it houses the Café Bazar and the Spängler bank , the oldest bank in Austria.

The two-storey structure with a neo-baroque structure and mansard roof was planned by Valentin and Jakob Ceconi in 1881 with a basement, ground floor and mezzanine and completed in mid-1882. The building is eight meters high and has balustrades. It used to house a wide variety of shops, hence the name Bazar . Between 1904 and 1906, the owners at the time, A. Baldi and Josef Musch, had the construction company Ceconi carry out the planned addition of an attic floor, which had been planned since 1902, and other adaptations. The plan for this was signed by Jakob Ceconi, but in all likelihood comes from Karl Pirich , who worked for the Ceconi construction company. At that time, the roof landscape typical of the house today (with a large central dome, several smaller domes with lanterns, windows and ornaments) was created.

With the move in of the Spängler bank and the expansion of the Café Bazar, the bazaar building underwent a change from a small-scale commercial building to the representative headquarters of two traditional Salzburg companies.
