The bank Carl Spängler & Co. AG is the oldest private bank in Austria and has been based in the provincial capital of Salzburg since it was founded in 1828 .

Branches

In addition to the head office at Schwarzstrasse 1, the bank currently (2018) operates another branch in the city of Salzburg and one in Pinzgau. Outside of Salzburg, the company has branches in Vienna, Linz, Graz and Kitzbühel, with the one in Linz housed in the listed Schmidtberger-Haus , which the bank acquired and renovated in 1999.

history

Bankhaus Spängler was founded by Johann Alois Duregger , who applied for a commercial banking license in 1828. Carl Spängler first joined the company in 1854 and married Duregger's daughter a year later. Today the seventh generation of the Spängler family has been running the bank since 1855.
