Beckton Station

Beckton is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the London Borough of Newham . It is located in TfL tariff zone 3 on Woolwich Manor Way in Beckton .

The station was opened on March 28, 1994, together with the branch line from Poplar . During the heyday of Docklands, there was a train station called Beckton a few hundred meters east . This was at the end of a branch of the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway , which opened up a gas works and was in operation from March 17, 1873 to December 29, 1940. Today, DLR uses a section of the former railway line. However, the DLR reached the Beckton terminus from the east, while the railway line led here from the west. Most of the former branch route is now a hiking trail .
