The Beireis-Realschule was next to the still existing Lademann-Realschule one of two Realschulen in the Lower Saxon city of Helmstedt in Germany , which was mostly attended by students from this city.

history

The Helmstedt Middle School was founded in 1939 on Schulstrasse. The building was built in 1912–1914 and inaugurated on April 22, 1914, and has served several types of schools to this day . During the Second World War , the school building was converted into a reserve hospital, so that the school had to be housed in different locations in the city in the following years. In 1957 the school moved into the Juleum building . Another move to the building on Schulstrasse followed seven years later. In order to cope with the steadily increasing number of students, the school was divided in 1968. Realschule II (later Lademann Realschule) moved into the school building on Amtsgasse and Realschule I (later Beireis Realschule) stayed in the building on Schulstrasse for the time being. In 1972 the Lademann Secondary School moved into the building in Wilhelmstrasse, where it is still located today.

With the introduction of the orientation level, Realschule I had to move again in 1973. She moved to the new building of the Julianum grammar school on Goethestrasse. In 1976 Realschule I was named after the well-known Helmstedt professor Gottfried Christoph Beireis and was given its official name "Beireis Realschule". 21 years after the introduction of the orientation level, this type of school was closed again in 2004 and the Beireis Realschule had to move again. The new and old location was again the building on Schulstrasse.

Even if around 180 students were taught in 8 classes by 16 teachers in grades 7-10, the district council had decided to close the school at the end of the 2007/2008 school year due to the declining number of students. The closure was completed on July 9, 2008.
