Bejuma

Bejuma is a city in the west of the state of Carabobo in northern Venezuela , not far from the coast of the Caribbean .

It is the headquarters of the district of the same name ( Municipio ). Bejuma is called "Garden Carabobos" because of the many green areas and has about 27,380 inhabitants (OCEI). Agriculture plays the most important role in the city's economy.

In 1843 the owners of the "Fundo Bejuma" estate founded the village of Bejuma.

Coordinates: 10 ° 11 ′  N , 68 ° 15 ′  W Bejuma is located at 667 m above sea level in the coastal cordillera. The average temperature is 24 degrees Celsius.

Culture

The Casa de la Cultura (the culture house) houses the Atheneum, the Manuel Pimentel Coronel city library and the city museum. The city museum ("Museo Pueblos del Occidente de Carabobo" or "Museum of the Peoples of West Carabobo") shows u. a. Objects belonging to the peoples of this region, from archaeological finds of the indigenous people to objects from colonial times and later.

The city has a theater, the "Teatro Palermo", and a social center, the "Centro Social Bejuma".
