Bekoji (woreda)

Bekoji ( amharic በቆጂ ) is one of 20 Woredas (administrative areas) in the Arsi zone in the region Oromia in Ethiopia . Before the reorganization of the administrative structure of Ethiopia in 1995, Bekoji belonged to the province of Arsi .

Bekoji has an area of ​​1,501.72 square kilometers. According to figures from the Central Ethiopian Statistics Agency from 2006, 241,357 people (118,721 men, 122,636 women) live in woreda Bekoji. The population density is therefore 160.7 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The largest towns were Bekoji (17,527 inhabitants), Siltana (6,019), Meraro (4,512), Lemu Sirba (2,116) and Sirbo (1,399).
