Belana

Belana is a waxy table potato . It was bred by the potato breeding company "Saatzucht Berding" and approved for cultivation by the Federal Office of Varieties in 2000 ; The authorized user and distributor is Europlant Pflanzenzucht GmbH. Europlant offered this variety as a successor to the Linda variety .

As a waxy potato, Belana is well suited for making potato salad . The mostly oval tubers have a yellow, pure flesh color, flat eyes and a smooth to reticulated color. It is one of the early ripening potato varieties and has a less noticeable tendency towards black spots .

The Belana variety can be stored for a long time due to its high dormancy . Before the plant therefore is pre-sprouting or germination stimulation of seed potato tubers recommended. Youth development is also subdued. It has medium to high soil requirements and requires a regular and good water supply . Belana is considered to be resistant to gold nematodes .
