The Belanglo State Forest is a national park in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area consists of a Monterey pine forest that has been artificially created since 1919 , with adjacent natural vegetation. The area is around 3,600 hectares and in the eastern part facing the Hume Highway it is systematically traversed by drivable, unpaved roads. The area is located about 11 kilometers west of the town of Moss Vale in the catchment area of Sydney (about 100 km northeast) and Canberra (about 135 km in the southwest) and is a popular destination. The forest is accordingly equipped with barbecue areas and campsites.

The area is still used today as a pine plantation and wood supplier for a nearby paper mill.

In 1992 and 1993 the Belango State Forest was known as the site of a total of seven bodies of young people. The Australian Ivan Milat was convicted as the perpetrator in 1996 . Since then, bodies have been repeatedly found here, only part of which could be assigned to the serial killer Milat.
