Belfast Blitz

Belfast Blitz is the term used in the English-speaking world for several attacks by the German Air Force against Belfast in April and May 1941 during the Second World War .

The first, smaller attack occurred on the night of April 7th to 8th, 1941. The second attack was carried out on April 15, 1941 by 200 bombers and was aimed at the industrial plants in Belfast, which produced armaments for the British military. Around 900 people died and 1,500 were wounded. This was the largest loss outside London in a single attack.

The third attack occurred in the evening and morning hours of May 4th and 5th, 1941. It was carried out mainly with incendiary bombs , killing 150 people. The last attack took place on the following night from May 5th to 6th.
