The first four rounds were drawn together on July 14, 2020. After the qualifying games on August 2, 2020, the first round should take place on August 9, 2020. There are 222 clubs playing, 158 from the provincial classes and 64 from the third amateur division. In the second round (scheduled for August 16, 2020), 49 clubs from the second amateur division will join the 111 winners from the first round.

In addition to the 80 winners of the 2nd round, the 16 clubs of the first amateur division will be added in the 3rd round (originally planned for August 23, 2020). Accordingly, 48 games are to be drawn from 96 clubs. In the 4th round (originally planned for August 30, 2020) no further clubs will be added, so that 24 clubs will advance in 48 games. In the 5th round, the eight clubs of the 2nd division are added to these 24 clubs . That makes 32 clubs that play 16 games.

Since the sixteenth finals, the remaining clubs in the 1st division have also been involved in the Belgian Cup. These 16 clubs are in one lottery pot; the 16 winners of the 5th round in the other. Pairings between clubs in the first division are therefore excluded.

With the exception of the semi-finals, all matches are played in just one game. If there is a draw after 90 minutes, extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out follow. There are also second legs in the semifinals. If both teams have scored the same number of goals after the second leg, the away goals rule applies ; if the number of goals scored away is the same, extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out follow.

Effects of the increased number of COVID-19 diseases

After the number of COVID-19 diseases in Belgium increased again at the end of July 2020, the National Security Council reduced the number of allowed spectators to 200 with a resolution of July 27, 2020. Since most of the illnesses occurred in the Antwerp area, the provincial governor prohibited on 28 July 2020 July 2020 for the entire province of Antwerp team sport including training. In consultation with the regional Flemish and Walloon football associations and Pro League, the Belgian Football Association postponed all cup rounds indefinitely. New dates are to be set depending on the further development of the pandemic.
